Bus Chick is thankful for Metro

This year, we bus folks are hosting Thanksgiving at our place, so we won’t have the pleasure of riding anywhere on this rainy, November day. Still, in honor of the holiday, I’m posting some food-transporting photos from last year’s bus trip to my brother’s place. (As usual, the pics aren’t very good, but this time, we have an excuse: We were transporting a baby and food.)

Alas! I haven’t spotted (or transported) any fried turkeys of late.

Happy day, everyone!

Disclaimer: As y’all already know, I’m no photographer, so I apologize in advance for any visual offense I might cause. Any halfway decent photos in this post were probably taken by Bus Nerd. On to the trains:

On Friday afternoon, I took a preview ride from Westlake Station to Tukwila Station and back. It was a good overview of the entire line.

On Friday evening, Bus Nerd and I attended Tuxes and Trains, a black tie train celebration/fundraiser for Transportation Choices Coalition in Union Station’s Great Hall. We had a blast. Did I mention that Union Station is air conditioned?

On Saturday, Link’s official opening day, Nerd, Chicklet, and I rode the rails as a family.

Transportation Choices had a booth at the fair, and they were giving away “day one” stickers and other fun swag. They also had cool “travel light” t-shirts for sale. I bought one and then left it at the booth, so I don’t have a photo.

NOT my kind of transit advertising (or, Buh-bye, WaMu)

Really, Chase?

A Chase ad on a 53

This ad is wrong on so many levels, I don’t know where to start. (Fellow Seattleites: You feel me?) If it weren’t for Brown Bear’s awful, self-congratulatory campaign*, this would win the award for worst bus ad ever.

*Of course, I can’t seem to find a picture of it now (will link to one soon), but you know the one: “Favorite car wash of local salmon.”
